What data Smart Directs stores
Smart Directs is an inbox + auto-reply automation tool for creators on Instagram and Telegram. When you connect a social account, we store the following on your behalf:
- Your social account profile metadata (Instagram Business account ID, Page ID, display name, profile picture URL, connected timestamp)
- An encrypted access token used to call Meta's Graph API on your behalf
- Conversation records you receive (sender handle, message body, timestamps, attachment URLs that Meta itself hosts)
- Auto-reply rules and scenario flows you create
- Operational records (webhook delivery log, signature verification status, error traces)
How to request deletion
You can request deletion of your data from Smart Directs in one of three ways. All three result in the same outcome: every record tied to your account is permanently removed from our database, our backups roll over, and we no longer hold or process your data.
1. Self-service from the app
Sign in to Smart Directs, open Settings → Account, and click Delete my account and all data. Confirmation is one click; deletion is immediate. You receive an email confirmation within minutes.
2. Disconnect from your Instagram or Facebook account
Open Instagram or Facebook → Settings → Apps and Websites → find Smart Directs → Remove. Meta sends us a webhook on your removal; we delete the corresponding records within 24 hours and you receive an email confirmation.
3. Email request
Email privacy@smartdirects.com from the email address you used to register. Include your Instagram handle or Telegram bot ID so we can locate your account. We process the request within 5 business days and reply with a confirmation reference.
What happens after deletion
- All social account, conversation, and message records are removed from the live database immediately.
- Encrypted access tokens are revoked at the Meta side and removed from our store.
- Encrypted database backups age out within 30 days; we do not restore deleted records.
- Operational logs (webhook delivery records, error traces) are redacted of personal identifiers within 24 hours and fully purged within 90 days.
- We retain only the anonymized aggregate metric counts required to operate the service (e.g. total_conversations_in_period), with no link back to your identity.
